Writer & Educator with a Deep Understanding of Mental Health from a Body & Mind Perspective

I’m Lauren—a functional nutritionist (CNS®), therapist (LCSW), and writer with experience across psychology, nutrition, and functional and integrative health. My work centers on deepening understanding of the connections between body and mind through research-informed writing, education, and consulting. I develop resources and provide support that inform and empower individuals, practitioners, practices, and organizations working to advance health and well-being.

My specialty lies in understanding how our experiences, lifestyles, and environments influence the interconnected processes of the body and mind that shape how we feel and function.

Mental health and physical health are deeply interconnected, as the body and mind are in constant communication. They are shaped by the complex interplay of early life experiences—including attachment and trauma—genetics, biochemical individuality, and daily lifestyle factors such as nutrition, sleep, circadian rhythms, movement, relationships, and connection with nature.

Chronic stress, social determinants of health, and environmental exposures also influence physiological processes and can contribute to imbalances that affect mental and physical health. Disruptions in gut-brain signaling, circadian biology, neuroimmune activity, hormonal regulation, and metabolic function can all shape energy, mood, and overall well-being.

Deepening our understanding of these connections—and recognizing the factors we can influence to better support our body and mind—can help us improve how we feel and function.

Through my writing, research, educational, and consulting work, I translate complex scientific and clinical insights into accessible, nuanced, and practical resources. I collaborate with practitioners, functional and integrative health practices, and health-focused organizations on scientific communications, research translation, professional education, and consulting projects that bridge emerging research with clinical practice and everyday health.
